How many of you have considered Google+ to be a huge waste of time? You have thought this way for some time now and the idea of incorporating Google+ into your social media platform has taken a back seat. You are not alone in your thinking; I was one of these people until I decided to really explore this social media network.
As a result of this exploration, I decided to run a 7-Day Google+ Blog Series to share with you some of the valuable components and powerful opportunities Google+ has to offer. I will use this series to focus on how Google+ impacts your SEO efforts.
Day 1: Since day 1 of it’s inception, Google Plus content is treated by Google just like any other page on the web. Is this true? Yes! The content you post to Google Plus will be indexed by Google, it will gain page rank and appear in Google’s search results. With Google leading the way with a whopping 67% of all US search queries according to a July 2013 study done by comScore, posting valuable content is a simple, yet effective approach to attracting your target audience.
Test it out for yourself! Post content to your Google Plus profile using specific keywords you’ll remember and then wait a few weeks for Google to index your post. After 3 weeks is up, perform a Google search with the exact phrase or words used in your post. Do you see your Google Plus page on the 1st or 2nd page results? If the answer is yes, mission accomplished.
Tune in tomorrow, we’ll be back with another valuable tip in Day 2 of this blog series.
