Google Plus Series

We are back after the long weekend with Day 4 in our Google+ Blog Series. Today we will keep it simple and focus on the key points of “notifying” or “mentioning” people in your Google Plus posts.

If you want to grab someone’s attention, you can + or @ someone in your posts and to your circles. When you do this (depending on the person’s personal notification settings) – they will receive a notification that you mentioned them in a post.  They will also be able to see the original post. Mentioning someone in a post also makes it easy for others to see they’ve been mentioned, even if the post wasn’t originally shared with them. In addition to the above, Google Plus does give you the option of notifying people by email, but this feature is often deemed what a typical email reader considers as spam.

In general, mentioning people in your posts is a positive form of acknowledging others, addressing someone specifically and a good tactic for build out relationships.

We’ll be back tomorrow with another valuable tip in Day 5 of this email/blog series.
